Pallagrello Bianco - Campania treasure...

The Estate is located in northern Campania, northeast of Naples, in an amphitheater of rolling, mineral rich hills near the inactive volcano of Roccamonfina & has been farmed by Michele Alois and his son Massimo using biodynamic & sustainable techniques since 1992. They have 9 hectares of the indigenous, ancient varietals Pallagrello Bianco, Pallagrello Nero, Casavecchia, Aglianico & Falanghina. Historically Pallagrello Bianco was the favorite of Ferdinand the 4th. of Bourbon, the king of Naples & Sicily, preferring it to the wines of Vesuvius & thus it became the King’s wine. But due to phylloxera it almost completely disappeared only to be rediscovered in 1990 & has been lovingly cultivated ever since.

Fermentation & aging on the lees in stainless for a couple of months is followed by 4 months in bottle. The nose is savory with aromas of almonds, beeswax, yuzu & melon. More savory wild herbs & grapefruit on the waxy/leesy palate & a long, clean finish from the naturally high acidity balances out the fruit. @soilairselection #fattoriaalois #pallagrellobianco #campania
