La Fuerza Vermut - Blanco & Rojo

Updated: Nov 18, 2019

La Fuerza - “The first Vermouth of the Andes” - offers both red & white sweet vermouth & is a concept & collaboration between 4 friends in Argentina that was 2 years in the making. The conditions were that the base wines - Torrontés for the white & Malbec for the red - are from Mendoza (Zuccardi winery), that many of the infusing herbs are sourced locally from the Andes, including lemon verbena, orange and lemon peel, angelica, sage and elderberry & that the fortifying alcohol is also distilled locally. Both show citrus peel & bitter herbs on the nose, with the palates finely balanced between floral sweetness & a lovely bitter bite from the barks & wormwood infusions. The white exhibits the classic bright floral aromatics of the Torrontés base, whilst the red has a deeper more brooding character from the Malbec. They are both fantastic with a splash of soda & a slice of orange & you can go to the La Fuerza Bar e Vermut in Buenos Aires to enjoy either or both with some delicious tapas.
